Ixaris is seeking a Data Protection Officer to join either their London or Brussels office to ensure that processing of the personal data of its staff, customers, providers or partners is in compliance with the applicable data protection laws. 

Reporting to our Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, your responsibilities as DPO would include advising on our compliance with GDPR and other applicable local data protection laws, monitoring our adherence to data protection standards and acting as a point of contact with supervisory authorities and data subjects. You will also create policies that enforce compliance with legislation and deliver GDPR and data protection trainings to our employees in Malta, Belgium and the UK to increase awareness of data protection measures.

This role will require an in-depth understanding of data privacy laws coupled with experience of working with governance, technical and operational teams. This position will see you sat within the first line of defense to ensure data privacy regulations are adhered to.

To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of GDPR and local data protection laws and be familiar with the payments industry and the nature of its data processing activities. You should also know how to perform reviews of our current procedures.


  • Act as point of contact for customers, supervisory authorities and internal teams
  • Identify and evaluate the Ixaris Groups data processing activities
  • Provide advice and instructions on how to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Monitor data management procedures and compliance within the company
  • Participate in meetings with managers to ensure privacy by design at all levels
  • Maintain records of processing operations
  • Ensure we address all queries from data subjects within legal time frames (e.g. delete their information from our databases)
  • Liaise with other organisations that process data on our behalf
  • Write and update detailed guides on data protection policies
  • Together with our internal audit department perform audits and determine whether we need to alter our procedures to comply with regulations
  • Offer consultation on how to deal with privacy breaches
  • Arrange for training on data protection compliance for employees
  • Follow up with changes in law and issue recommendations to ensure compliance


  • Experience in data protection and compliance - certified DPO or Certified GDPR Practitioner would be an asset
  • Solid knowledge of GDPR and national data protection laws
  • Knowledge of data processing operations in the payments sector is preferable
  • Familiarity with computer security systems
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Ethical, with the ability to remain impartial and report all non-compliance
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail
